YES, we make snow and lots of it!!

Woods Valley’s snomaking system, made up of both air/water guns and fan guns, combined with nightly grooming, provide the perfect surface we’re all looking for. Last season you saw the results of our commitment to snowmaking and grooming. We provided great surface conditions for the Holidays and through to the end of march, even though Mother Nature was a little stingy with her snowfall and cold temperatures.

Woods Valley Ski Patrol News

The Woods Valley Ski Patrol will be patrolling their 44th season this year. O ur membership will be over thirty strong and will be led by Director Rick O ’Meara and Assistant Director Paul Gatley.

Skiers and boarders will surely miss the presence of Patroller Angelo Cataldo, who passed away last season. Ang was a founding member of our patrol in 1964 and showed his love for skiing and skiers everyday he was on our slopes. A major project of our patrol this past summer was the construction of the their new warming and storage hut at the top of Broadway. The funding for the building has come from a memorial fund established in the honor of Angelo.

As many of our skiers know, our patrollers go through a great deal of training, both before and after the season starts. First aid refresher courses are held in the fall and once there is snow, the patrollers work on skiing skills and toboggan handling.

The Woods Valley Patrol is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations and fund raisers. This past August the patrol hosted their annual Snowmaker 5K Road Race and during the season the patrol sponsors a ski safety day and chicken barbecue.

Throughout the season the patrol is on hand for the skier or boarder in need. The entire patrol promotes safer skiing and encourages skiers and boarders to ski with care and control.
