Welcome to the 2009-10 Season

With summer behind us, and the cool nights of late, it sure won’t be long before skiing and boarding season. All of us at Woods Valley had a busy, fun-filled summer and just like you, we’re looking ahead toward winter.

Our summer here at Woods Valley was probably a lot like everywhere else in central New York, a little cool and wet. Maybe that’s a sign of what’s ahead for this season. Last season got off to a great start with some natural snow and beautiful snowmaking weather soon after Thanksgiving. Great snowmaking and grooming provided fine surface conditions right to the end of March.

Our off season was a busy one as we continue to refine our operations to better suit our customers and offer the best facilities and snow as possible. Our summer was busy with the usual maintenance and upkeep of lifts, lodge and grounds. As you know, after the lifts shut down at the end of a season, a great deal of work continues on through the off season. Machinery and equipment are kept in the best order to assure safe and consistent skiing for the next season. You may not notice many of our summer projects, as they deal with snowmaking and grooming equipment, water drainage, and trail maintenance but plenty of work goes into providing you with a great skiing and boarding.

The Olney family is looking forward to seeing you all as soon as the cold arrives.
